Rehabilitation

Successful surgery without proper rehabilitation can often lead to poor results.

Conditions which require neurosurgical treatment have not responded to conservative therapies and depending on the disorder have often caused muscle weakness, cognitive and speech disorders.

The time required for rehabilitation varies from patient to patient and depends on the nature of the neurological disorder and the general health of the patient. Types of rehabilitation which may be required depending on the type of disorder include:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech therapy

A well- structured physiotherapy program following liaison with the attending neurosurgeon, who is aware of all the specific requirements of the patient plays an important part in helping the patient to regain normal mobility after surgery and to strengthen the muscles.
